OSTRANDE began in 2009 with one coat pattern and one bolt of double-faced wool. Seventeen years later the atelier employs 212 people, and the coat pattern has barely changed.
(02) Seventeen years
One pattern, cut from one piece of double-faced wool, sold to twelve shops.
A store in the Marais, and the first show on the official calendar.

(03) The atelier
Every edge of a Cocoon Coat is split, folded and closed by hand.
Forty-one tailors work on the floor above the Milan store. Each finishes a garment from start to end and signs its numbered label.
(04) Materials
Four mills, all within a day’s drive of the atelier.
We have bought cloth from the same four mills since the first collection. Every season we approve the first metre in person.

(05) Three rules
How the house decides what to make.

Cut once
If a garment can be made from fewer pieces, it is. Fewer seams, less waste, a cleaner fall.

Numbered runs
Every style is made in a run of thirty to three hundred. We do not remake a run once it sells.
03
Repaired for life
Send any OSTRANDE piece back to the atelier and we will repair it, whatever its age.

(07) Fittings
Book a fitting in Milan, Paris, London, Copenhagen, Tokyo or New York.
An hour with a tailor from the atelier, with the full collection in your size. Alterations are made in store and ready within ten days.
